ReplyDeleteMannequins of “soiled doves” are placed in the bay windows. Deadwood was the subject of a TV series in the last few years (featuring Ian McShane). The whole series was set in 1876, a couple years after gold was discovered in the area, before law and order was established, although there was a Sheriff, Seth Bullock, who is described as being of good standing by any standards, especially at that time in that place. 1876 was also the year Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane came into town. After three months, Hickok was shot in the back of the head while playing cards.
